Ritz- Carlton
A six-month project to support the launch of Ritz-Carlton Residences Marrakech (and KSA-developer Siama) at the Jnan Amar Polo Resort(which had already successfully sold 65% in phase one of sales), with the focal point being a press trip – with both the UK and UAE as target markets. Mercury was charged with creating the entire itinerary, which showcased not only the client but the wider destination. The 50-hectare estate is home to world-class polo with 85 private residences, and was due to boast an 80-key hotel with fine dining, restaurants, a spa, and undulating landscaped gardens.
Impact
Media that attended the trip included: The Times, Gentleman’s Journal, Yacht Investor, Equity, Hello! Middle East, and Etihad’s inflight magazine. A couple of solo trips for The Daily Telegraph and City AM were also arranged. Coverage included a full page in City AM, a DPS in the Daily Telegraph, one page in The Times, one page in Hello! Middle East, and four pages in Simply Abu Dhabi. Other significant activities included liaising with Eton and Harrow to host a week training and exhibition match, and PURE Marrakesh to participate in their event, Lux Afrique’s at Ham Polo Club, and Chestertons Polo in the Park in London
Approach
Mercury forged a hugely beneficial relationship with the Moroccan National Tourism Office (MNTO), who paid for all media flights, and liaised with the best surrounding hotels, restaurants and attractions in town including the Selman, Royal Mansour, Beldi and Capaldi. A highly engaging itinerary was curated including polo lessons, and visits to the souq. Mercury also arranged for London-based interior designer Morpheus to travel on the trip with the prospect of being appointed for the interior design
